These are tumultuous times – fires scorch the California landscape, hurricanes wipe out whole communities and earthquakes that rock the world. So many people are left wondering how can we cope?
We can take tiny steps to put our lives in prospective, such as the Chinese proverb states, “Each journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
And so we do take tiny steps that may not end in a thousand miles but enrich our lives and the lives of others. Think of the many opportunities our club offers to promote friendships – amongst them: we take walks together, eat together, read together, and support our neediest neighbors with our collective generosity.
I am so grateful to be a member of The Bainbridge Island Women’s Club. You fellow members epitomize the best of womanhood. Thank you for your memberships and your caring companionship.

Barb’s Beret Project
Hello BBP Volunteers,
This month we will be creating festive berets for the upcoming holiday season. We currently have a substantial supply of berets in solid colors of Black, Grey and Grey Flannel that are in need of embellishments. Fabulous buttons, old jewelry pieces such as earrings, pins and brooches, as well as feathers all make wonderful additions to the berets.
Please bring your ideas and any materials to our next sewing circle which will be held on Thursday, October 26 at 1:00 pm. At the moment I hope to hold our get together at my house but the location may change as my kitchen renovation progresses. I will keep everyone posted if there will be a location change.

Donate to the silent auction:
Terrific donations are what make a successful silent auction. Consider donating an item to the auction, such as:
- Event tickets– symphony, sporting event, theater
- Getaways– weekend cabin, extra air miles on your mileage plan, or a vacation home
- Services–can you teach a class or provide a service (dog sitting to catering a dinner)?
- A unique item, piece of art, or collectible
Donation drop off by Friday, October 27 to Sheryl Todd
- donor’s name and contact info
- details about the item if needed
- estimated retail value of the item, very important!
Join us in supporting a vital resource for the community. Thank you for your help.
